To provide broad access to the work of Surface Area Dance Theatre, this being through performances and a comprehensive outreach programme that is flexible and responds to client needs, locally and regionally by touring, this made possible by also investing resources into programming organised workshops. History Surface Area Dance Theatre formed in 2005 a collective of young artists after graduating and considering all options decided to form a collective, Nicole Vivien Watson established her self as Creative Director. Based in the North East of England the company strives to secure and contribute to sustaining an eclectic assortment of dance and movement that is appreciated. We are a youthful company that is able to experiment and fully research new and alternative methods investing in researching dance cultures outside of the U.K. One of the companyfs pleasures is to invest in cross media collaborations, therefore you will find movement and dance artist regularly collaborating with filmmakers, media and textile artist, musicians and sound artists.
